Top 10 Greatest Music Albums
by avantgardemachines Unknown

THIS IS ROCK ONLY! Jazz is a different story. I also include fusion on here because it counts as rock. Plus it is usually better.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 59.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 59.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 18.9.

Cool to see SOAD and fusion. But 10 albums is just not nearly enough to cover all the fantastic rock and subgenres albums

I know we're all entitled to our opinion but you've got a lot of platforms on this site to state which albums you like and which you don't and sarcastically slating an album that clearly means a lot to someone on their own chart page is a more than a little tactless.

I can't tell if you're kidding or not bc, but I guess an opinion is an opinion, and the idea (or collective head nod) that Revolver is some sort of "masterpiece" isn't a new one. But for me, comparing Revolver to Rock Bottom is like comparing Vivaldi's Four Seasons to Beethoven's 9th, or a good painting of a fruit basket to Klimt's The Kiss or Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel. While keeping the hype machine surrounding it in mind, I would review Revolver as something like: "Heaped by tireless accolades and a shocking amount of fanboy hype, Revolver must be among the greatest jips in music history. An astonishingly mediocre foray into mostly weightless, amateur ditties. Here is where the Beatles mastered the trivial, a blitzkrieg mirage of cute stylistic forays into dilletantism, disguised as all but pointless, experimental window dressing, with finale "Tomorrow Never Knows" being the lone song that seems any more devastating than a few chirping birds on Sunday morning."

Yes it is satirical, Revolver should be above and not below Rock Bottom.

Rock Bottom neck and neck with Revolver? I assume this chart is satirical.
