When I first listened to Nothing Great About Britain, the yelping raps, bipolar tones and erratic production instantly had me picturing a younger Danny Brown. ..."  [+]  Reply

"The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was a precursor and influencer of Country Rock bands like The Eagles, and their sound coalesed on this album. Formed in California a few years earlier as a jug band in the vein of The Grateful Dead, their music drifted further and further toward country and bluegrass as..."  [+]  Reply

"Just as good, maybe even superior to, Hot buttered soul, and you get twice as much this time round. Quite why, Black Moses, isn't more highly thought of is a bit of a mystery, it's a beautiful album."  Reply

"Rich layers of instrumention, enjoyable if not all that impressive. Maybe at bit overproduced at times - everything but the kitchen sink, sort of thing. Bit too much keyboard. I liked the funky bass, guitars and horns. Some good moments when they let their players riff, e.g. end of "Revolution 19..."  [+]  Reply

"An underrated album by an underrated band. Their first two records are their most raw and also their most overtly political. These catchy songs never overstay their welcome and have things to say about war and imperialism that are, unfortunately, still relevant today. Best: Hustle Rose, Combat Ba..."  [+]  Reply

"The first half is much stronger than the second half. This album, unlike his debut, has much stronger Brit-Pop influences. I am surprised to hear the song "Grace" on this album as I have heard it many times before, but I didn't know it was from this album. I wonder if it would have been a hit if ..."  [+]  Reply

"It's funny: Canadian artists usually hone their craft in Canada, unknown to the big market south of the border. They usually peak right before going stateside, and then release a huge album that catches fire in the charts. Funny thing, it's not usually their best. (See Barenaked Ladies - Gordon i..."  [+]  Reply
