Lou Reed transforms into something truly great! While the two first Velvet Underground albums were interesting for different reasons and the two later VU albums were good too, I believe it's here Lou Reed finally unleashed his full potential as songwriter. The glam rock scene fits his style perfectly with a great nostalgic yet modern city life vibe to it.

Ironically, this album was more or less a commercial failure back in the day, though it should have been a #1 record. "Try Again" sounds like it's been lifted from either George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" or his "Living in the Material World" and that's only one song. Should be illegal for any Beatles fan not to listen to this album!

Cuddle up with this warm Beach Boys album if you need a mess of help to stand alone. Admittedly, it's quite the mess of an album with only 8 tracks and the bluesy "Here She Comes" as one of the least Beach Boys-sounding songs ever, but there's so much heartfelt beauty to find here that The Beach Boys still make it good somehow!

Beatlesque power pop. Not even raspberries are that delicious! Amazing how similar Eric Carmen sounds to Paul McCartney when Macca puts on his rock 'n' roll voice (think "Maybe I'm Amazed", pretty much that voice)!

Superstitiously well-written songs by the wonder of Stevie Wonder. A soul classic with one of the most famous riffs ever in "Superstition"!

As opposed to the title of this album, you CAN buy a thrill, if you buy this album. Because there's good music on it, some kinda soft rock.

Not even half as psychedelic as it looks. In fact, it's not psychedelic at all. It's "just" some mighty solid, tuneful roots rock!
