Danceable guitar music with angelic vocals. Not the maddest Madchester album out there, but certainly the greatest. It feels great walking around in the city with this album in the ears.

The "Rubber Soul"/"Revolver" of the 80s, just more violent and insane!

On dream pop fire! Something about the adorably strained vocals and the youthful, innocent and daydreaming approach of Galaxie 500 will make you leave this planet. Magically decomposing!

Disintegrate into the same deep water as The Cure, a lullaby land of beautiful, gothic visions. It's quite exhausting to listen to all the way through with quite a few tracks that really drag on, but that's actually part of its greatness as it strengthens the experience of drowning in mesmerizing ambience rather than listening to regular music!

Every Queen album is a bit of a miracle and this is no exception. Party rockers, big anthems, magical synthesizers, cheesy ballads, Queen wanted it all and they gave it to you here. Despite what many wants you to believe about Queen in the 80s, this is no way a scandal!

Hand on my heart, I really enjoy myself listening to this album (and Kylie Minogue in general). There's just something about Kylie's vocals, they're simply adorable. It's more or less the same album as the debut, it's got SAW (and thus the 80s) written all over it. However, "Tell Tale Signs", "My Secret Heart" and "Tears on My Pillow" are pretty, nostalgic-tinged exceptions to the 80s pump.

Shake your rump to this boutique heavily stored with samples. It's perhaps a little less silly than the debut, but Beastie Boys still deliver a strong party-minded album. Especially the Beatles sample heaven of "The Sounds of Science" (though it more sets the stage for Simon & Garfunkel references) is great entertainment, at least if you're a Beatles fan or know them well.

A real 80s motor of love as romantic and gentle as the album artwork with a couple of McCartney's typical quirky "distractions". McCartney gives some of his best emotional vocals in "Figure of Eight" while closing the 80s gorgeously with the anthemic power and choral beauty of "Motor of Love".

You may tell yourself, now I'm in heaven, sometime during this album. That's not to say it's some sassy new age-sounding fluff, actually, it's more like the exact opposite! Julian Lennon has taken on a different, more masculine sorta Elvis-style vocally unlike his previous more nasal and thin voice reminiscent of his father's. His two first albums were probably more soulful, but this one kicks some serious butt, pure rock 'n' roll style!
Favourite tracks: "Now You're in Heaven" & "Mother Mary" [First added to this chart: 07/03/2015]

Still cruisin' with The Beach Boys after all of these years. They already made it big in the 60s, but here they're doing it again, mostly because of the smash hit "Kokomo". Big choruses and delightfully infectious, the songs, despite drenched in 80s sound, are actually quite great. However, the album is disjointedly composed of various songs included in recent films. An oddity like "Wipe Out" with guest rapping by The Fat Boys and backing vocals by The Beach Boys themselves strongly contrasts the pointless inclusion of classic songs from the 1960s. The Beach Boys certainly get around on the album, but for the songs alone there's great reason to listen to it!
