Excellent, almost conceptual album. Beautifully orchestrated and maybe their answer to "Sgt. Pepper" with classical influences and even psychedelic undertones in "Strawberry Swing". Whether or not they ripped off the melody of "Viva La Vida", they definitely improved it and turned it into something great.

Which Elbow album is the better? Is it this one? I really can't decide, but "The Seldom Seen Kid" is probably the most refined Elbow album. Crème brûlée for the ears with an eargasmic mixture of lush instrumentation and Guy Garvey's soothing voice.

Axl Rose and friends (I guess?) back with a new album for the first time in 15 years. Anticipations were madly high with such a big name, but the album was considered somewhat of a flop. Not by me, however. Essentially, the album consists of 14 attempts at another "November Rain" and while none of them are as great, the album still succeeds at being epic, regardless of how oddly overproduced it is. Full of atmospherics and unlike other Guns N' Roses albums, it's an experience rather than just a bunch of songs. Apparently, it's also the most expensive album ever produced!

Søren Rasted's (from Aqua) collaboration with his nephew Nicolaj Rasted in a duo called Hej Matematik (Hello Math) on their debut album "Vi Burde Ses Noget Mere" (We Should See Each Other Some More). Strong 80s hooks, humourous lyrics full of attitude and just awesome, at least if you understand Danish!

Kings of Leon got sex on fire with this album or at least became very popular with the huge commercial breakthrough of the two very good, but now very overplayed "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody". Though not quite as big hits, the album also offers quite a few other great sing-along U2-esque anthems. A great pop album also playable during the daytime!

The otherworldly beauty of this album is completely unbounded! Really, the combination of new age and female vocals doesn't get much more blissful than this.

Provides access to the gates of reality, indeed. The gates OUT of reality, I might add! Colourful dreams, alternative states of mind, exposure to higher truths and all that... in one album!

Worthy of the title. Feels very much like a long, hypnotic dream underwater - but with a persistent dubby pulse such that sleeping with the fishes is only temporarily!

Under magic spells, that's for sure and something totally unique with loud contrasts met during the set ranging from mesmerizing euphoria to violent punk, but all under the same otherworldly coldness. One heck of a good Canadian electronic time!

With a buzz in their ears, Sigur Rós are playing endlessly or at least for +55 minutes on this album. Starts out with the jolliest Sigur Rós have ever provided us with, but moves quickly into the land of melancholia as we know Sigur Rós best. The new brightness is refreshing, but also highly moving when such emotional dynamic occurs!
