Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I have to give this chart a high rating because there's an XTC album on it, which is indicative of impeccable taste, but I also have to cry foul because putting the albums in chronological order on a non-custom BEA chart gives unfair ranking weight to the earlier stuff, at the expense of the later stuff. (Also, I don't really like Frank Sinatra.) And since it's easy to sort the albums chronologically without them being entered in that order, there's no aesthetic justification per se. Maybe this is just sour grapes on my part because I know that the XTC album should be listed at #1, but that's the nature of grapes, unfortunately. Some are gonna be sour.

Cool coverage of the age of modern music.
Liked seeing The Rural Alberta Advantage ~ I discovered them recently and liked what I heard.
Also nice to see Goyte make the list.

Interesting concept - came here to check who was giving love to U2's October. Hardly a classic in there but the albums I have heard are great
