Unlike its predecessor, Prince's second feature film (and this is its soundtrack) was a flop. The music though is more than interesting, going from classic funk (the minimalist "Kiss"), music-hall lullaby ("Under the cherry moon"), quirky, sexy pop, orchestrated ballad,... A jazz-rock concept album about Man and his fall from Grace, until his eventually finding redemption through devotion to God... Really? Really. And, what's more, it works. Complex yet accessible music. [First added to this chart: 09/25/2018]

Spiritual funk and sensual esoterism. An ambitious conceptual suite that takes you from exciting (and unique) dance music to classic rock via sumptuous and sexy R&B ballads, over-the-top pop/rock constructions and back. His name was Prince, the one and only. Way more than just a sexy MF. [First added to this chart: 06/13/2017]

A fine effort in compiling this comprehensive retrospective of music's last legend. I would quibble with the placement of individual albums ("The Black Album" ranked last!?), but as another funk legend (and one of Prince's touchstones) Sylvester Stone once sang, "Different strokes for different folks." A great trip through the catalog of a genius!!! Well done!!!

I'm glad if it made you feel like listening to this exceptional musical force of nature's body of work. So much to enjoy, it's dizzying. Paul McCartney is the only other (living) artist with a comparable range of styles and all-encompassing musical chops(less funk oriented though).

This is a great chart. So much scope. So much music. So much man! I wouldn't put what I know of Prince's discography in this order myself, but I can appreciate the time that's gone into ranking the prolific output of one of the greatest musicans of all time. Has made me want to seek out his back catalogue all over again!
