Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 80.6/100, a mean average of 77.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 27.8.

@sssvnnn haha. I love nice melodic songs too. There are many featured in this chart. Some are melodic AND noisy. It's rock music, after all. Little Richard was very noisy.

But you're right, I could've included Pet Sounds and more Beatles. Brian Eno, Stevie Wonder, Big Star and Cheap Trick almost made it too. Then there's a lot of pre-70s popular music I love, from Buddy Holly to Motown, people who were focused on writing singles to play on the radio, not on conceiving whole LPs (which is this site's whole thing). If this was a favorite songs list, they would be represented. As would Burt Bacharach, for instance.

Very noisy chart.
I like it,
But...to be honest, I wish a little bit more nice and lovely songs.

Maybe I`ll find some new prober albums for my "Noise of Trouble" chart.

Dude, I can't fathom why people think your chart is mediocre. It's so diverse and personal! And your jazz picks are great!

Very experimental chart. I love Mr Beefheart, Pere Ubu and Can. A lot I have not heard, so will definitely increase rating when I have. You have given me music to explore.

15 years of listening and The Modern Dance still hasn't gotten old. Rocks as hard as ever. What an album!

I like your taste. The experimental side of your jazz inclusions are interesting.

Cool and avandardistic Chart!
( a bit to much The Fall for my taste)

Likewise! Right, who needs just album lists with limited slots? Better than nothing, I guess.

Yeah, Goat is still perfect. Love Head and Liar too, though. Wish I could've seen TJL live in their prime. What a band.
