Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Many in common with my own 40, and a few artists I considered, but just missed the cut with different albums (eg. Flaming Lips- Yoshimi). Be interested to see the next batch.
I have a lot of common choices with you so that's a good indication of my rating. Might have to check out some of your other choices too. Don't know if you're already familiar with them but if not I suggest 'The Smiths' to you as they're quite similar to 'The Stone Roses'.

This is solid. Any chart containing Ready To Die and Pinkerton and I Can hear The Heart Beating As One and Tom Waits and The Pixies is alright by me. Lots of growing potential here.
