Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I'd hardly say albums like Underwater Moonlight are an attempt to try and be "cool" and "underground", but whatever. It's one of Scruff's favourites, but even then it's hardly "cool and underground". Don't listen to everyone insinuating such things. Cool chart, man.

You're not too bad yourself. Greenbean's comment. haha. This stuff is really great. Red House Painters, Gene Clark, Natural Snow Buildings, and Sun Ra all in the top 10. That's how to do it.

Haha. Yes. That's what opinions are for. If you agreed with everything on my list, that'd be pretty boring. I'm not entirely sure that I agree with everything on my list, to be honest.
You have indeed added more albums even since I stopped by here earlier. I like lists like yours because it gives me a lot of gems to mine. Unlike Greenbean, I get super bored with lists full of The Beatles and all the other classics. I don't look at random stranger internet people's lists to find albums that I've known about for half my life. I like seeing stuff like The Olivia Tremor Control. I don't know who that is, but you obviously like this album of theirs a lot, so it gives me something to look forward to hearing.
