In the end, each life is no more than the sum of contingent facts, a chronicle of chance intersections, of flukes, of random events that divulge nothing but their own lack of purpose.

Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:

AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 92.1/100, a mean average of 93.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.1.

Hell yeah! Cuban Linx, Infamous, Forever Changes and Erectus in that top 10! You've got a very original chart with various genres. Good stuff!
Top!
Really varied and interesting chart. I don't know everything on here by a long shot bit what I do know I really like.
All the leavers were great, and all the newcomers are even better. Nice work Skinnyman.
I was just innocently browsing the net on a Saturday afternoon with Marvin Gaye in the background, as I often do. Suddenly, and out of nowhere, I remembered that German album which Skinny was raving about, and which I've heard only once (Harald Grosskopf's Synthesist). Trying to remember the name of the artist/album, I've naturally decided to check Skinny's ole list. Now imagine young LedZep's surprise when, instead of finding the same old overall chart, he stumbled upon brand new updated 2.0 fat and sugar free version! Oh my!
I guess what I wanted to say with this unfunny story is that this list is fuckin' awesome, and I really appreciate the update. There's tons of stuff to discover and I'll surely be checking some of these soon.
A baffling all-encompassing list, although the choices are very precise, so I don't doubt your sincerity. The result is fascinating.
A superb chart, in my opinion. Loads of variety, loads of classics, plenty of lesser-known works. This is the kind of chart I aspire to!
I didn’t realise I had had a look at this list earlier, but upon second examination I am really impressed, even though it is much heavier on rap and electronic music than my music interests are. “ExTeeSee” and “dividesbyzero” have nailed it – and seeing Karen Dalton is impressive as she is such a singer. ‘Green Rocky Road’, an archival release recorded in the 1960s, is even better than her more famous 1971 album.
If you really like Karen Dalton and Sandy Denny – another surprise here – have you checked out Anne Briggs’ ‘A Collection’ or even the Trees Community’s ‘The Christ Tree’? Both are absolute masterpieces.
Jenny Hval is one artist I need to give another listen to – and if you like her you should certainly check out ‘Aviary’ and ‘Ekstatis’ by Julia Holter and ‘Native Speaker’ by Braids.
Aside from that, I love that this list is extremely personal – even without notes.
Archie Shepp and Isaac Hayes are also interesting to see here even though I have not delved into their music, because, whilst one does not see them frequently on charts here, I know of them from Joe S. Harrington’s 2001 to 2003 ‘Top 100 Albums’ that sparked my interest in charts of this type and expanded my knowledge beyond Melbourne’s cloistered suburbs where I grew up.
I even like that the list is not entirely obscure stuff for the sake of it.
Refreshing seeing a unique chart like this. Thanks! Honest and personal lists are more interesting to check out instead of lists full of all the same top albums throughout.
I like it. Tom Moulton!!!!!!
