The first family of funk. The Isley Brothers had already had huge success by the time of Harvest For The World. The album, with the hit "Who Loves You Better", sold over 500,000 copies in 3 weeks, making it one of the fastest selling albums of all time. All but forgotten now, which is a pity, because the Isley's brought the funk the right way. Led by Ernie Isley, who not only supplied some of the greatest funk guitar licks ever played, but who also played all of the drum tracks, the band was on fire. And the result was an album of near perfection.
The Isley Brothers are one of the longest lasting bands in history, having put out their debut album in 1959 and their most recent in 2017. Harvest For The World is from their peak period, and should not be missed by anyone who enjoys funk. [First added to this chart: 05/13/2012]
