Don't (Don't) Stop Indie Pop!
by Jimmy Dread

UPDATED TO INCLUDE THE TWEE-EST POP PICKS FROM 2014

A true labour of love, and a very personal selection of 86 (!!!) jingly-jangly, indie-schmindy and totally tweerific records (with a couple of essential compys thrown in) to make your heart go boooooooooooom. From Rough Trade to Postcard to Sarah to Subway to K to Damaged Goods to Fantastic Plastic to Elefant to Fortuna Pop! to Matinee to Slumberland, I've adored indie pop pretty much since The Smiths entered my life. Even when my love showed signs of flagging a little during the Br(sh)itpop years, it was soon rekindled after my mate Paul made me a cassette with the immortal 'Bobby Gillespie is a Virgin' on it. Nods to him, Jamie, twee.net, the Skatterbrain blog, my gig buddy Anna, HDIFTBL club nights, Twee as Fuck, countless indie-pop compys and of course a certain BEA member who shall remain famous. Hopefully if you're into this kinda thing you'll find something you've never heard before to fall in love with. Oh, and if anyone's around Brixton/Oxford Street and fancies a twee-rific night out, drop me a line and let's dance our legs down to the knees... Jimmy, December 2013.

Great chart! Thanks for introducing me to Fitness Forever and Popguns.

Saw your comment above about MancSoulSister - those were some of the first charts I looked at when I joined BEA - but sadly they disappeared about 2 weeks later.

Cheers Suzy...! The BEA member in question is the one and only MancSoulSister, aka Magenta. She was (and still is) my sister in twee from over the sea, but alas she's moved to sunnier climbs and away from the good ship BEA. Her charts have all be taken off the site (by her I think), but she had an exquisite taste, a big love of The Cramps and told wondrous tales about gigs she'd seen and music she'd encountered along the way. Shame you can't see her charts - you'd have got on like a house on fire...
