"The first of the Gil Evans collaborations. Years ago, I would get baked during baseball's playoffs and watch the games with the sound off and Miles Ahead playing. It was uncanny how many times the ebb and flow of the game matched the music. Or maybe it was just the weed."  Reply

"This version suffers from the lack of the last two tracks, which were omitted for a stupid reason (because people said Mingus couldnt swing). Together at Noon was easily one of the most badass jazz tracks ever."  Reply

"Definitely, not a jazz expert. But, I found this album enjoyable given the more melodic tenor soloing over just bass and drums. Features Ray Brown on bass and Shelly Manne on drums. This album is credited with the birth of the jazz technique of "strolling", which is sax soloing over bass and drum..."  [+]  Reply

"This was the second album from Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps. It was released in 1957, four months after its predecessor, “Bluejean Bop”. Five tracks are originals written by Vincent and guitarist Cliff Gallup and Tex Davis. These are pretty typical early Vincent rockers, with “Red Blue Jeans an..."  [+]  Reply

"Ella has some incredibly long albums, the "songbook" series are typically 2+ hours, with the Ellington songbook being one of the longest. That said, while some of the other shorter ones get old after a bit (Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart), this one is fantastic the whole way through. If you don't ha..."  [+]  Reply
