Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 65.8/100, a mean average of 62.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 62.1/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 26.5.

Straight ahead hard rock with not much to separate it from the pack other than some killer attitude, which works best on stage; a far better live act and studio artist.
Great live act and guitar player. Albums are inconsistent. The first three are really good and then a few decent songs and albums here and there (Spirit of the Wild is actually a very good album). Ted's problem is the lyrics tend to be juvenile even on the newer stuff and his political rantings have ran off a lot of fans. That being said the guitar riffs are still there.
Even if one overlooks his wack-job political views, he's still a one-trick pony. Your standard flaming-guitar player with mediocre melody, vocals and lyrics.
Right wing freak hate him and his music
Ted is a really good guitar player and an ok singer (I know he doesn't sing all of his songs, but many of them). If you have ever seen his live act, it is a good show. I think sometimes people see all the hunting he does (which beats drinking and all the partying many rockers do) and his political views probably hurt him with some. I just listen to the music and I love his early stuff. Unfortunately he got off track for many years, but Spirit of the Wild was good and so was Craveman and I like his Damn Yankees stuff.
