My first time hearing this album was on a long long drive around town, running errands for my mom and I before I took a trip. I was so blown away I almost crashed the car.
"Strike up the band, c'mon, the conductor is beckoning, come congregation, lets sing it like you mean it. No, don't you get it? Don't you get it? Now, don't you move. Just stay where I can see you. Douse the lights, we sure are in for a show tonight."
"We're still so young and desperate for attention, I aim to be your eyes, trophy boys, trophy wives." [First added to this chart: 09/27/2015]
My first time hearing this album I was working on school in my living room with my headphones on, I turned this on thinking it was gonna be something I wouldn't like, something cheesy like New Found Glory. Boy was I dead-ass wrong.
"Overseas while you're back west, sleeping off the restlessness. Everything will be fine, just gotta keep my mind on your bed and your bed on my mind."
"Dodge your demons, take your reasons with you when you go." [First added to this chart: 12/02/2015]
My first time hearing this album was sitting in a parking lot of a local pet shop, waiting to pick up nobodyisemo. I almost crapped. I was on a massive Doors/Morrison kick, and so when he said the top quote below I started crying, it was written on my poster to commemorate my high school graduation a few years later.
"Did you have a good world when you died?"
"We could plan a murder, or start a religion" [First added to this chart: 07/24/2016]
My first time hearing this album was on a walk back from downtown, headphones on. Lost in the tunes, realizing I had somehow heard every one of these songs before.
"Light my candles in a daze, cause I found God."
"One baby to another says, I'm lucky to have met you." [First added to this chart: 09/20/2015]
My first time hearing this album was on my computer in my parents dining room a few days after it came out. I heard Daydreaming and I freaked out. I went to pick up nobodyisemo from a family party a few hours later, and when I showed him that song he said "I know, how are you just hearing this now?" I didn't have an answer, still don't.
"Truth will mess you up." [First added to this chart: 06/07/2018]
My first time hearing this album I was driving home from the local college radio station I had just played on for the first time ever with nobodyisemo. I couldn't stop smiling, this album remained in my CD player for months.
"Furniture store, shards of glass, I'm gonna kiss you through your hockey mask. Cause you're in the army now. I always knew you'd leave me someday. I always knew you had to go."
"I think you're funny, I like your friends, I like the way they treat you." [First added to this chart: 09/12/2016]
My first time hearing this album was on the way to rescue my friend who was being evicted on drug claims. A surprisingly calm and somber soundtrack to a very action-packed day. After hearing this, I pretty much didn't stop listening for the next two weeks. Still can only listen to the whole thing, never individual tracks.
"Like a poem poorly written, we are verses out of rhythm, couplets out of rhyme, in syncopated time, and the dangling conversation, and the superficial sighs, are the borders of our lives." [First added to this chart: 08/31/2017]
My first time hearing this album was like when I was a fetus idk this album bangs obviously next
"I've got to admit, it's getting better, just a little better, all the time"
"She's fixing a hole where the rain gets in" [First added to this chart: 10/29/2015]
My first time hearing this album was in the back of my parents car with my headphones on. I felt surprisingly hard for not having a license and having to worry about making sure the volume wasn't too loud so that they couldn't hear what I was listening to so I didn't get in trouble.
"You can tell the Reaper I'mma meet 'em when he send for me
With a cleaver and a .30, and some twisted weed
I pick one, and let the crimson leak" [First added to this chart: 06/07/2018]
I genuinely don't remember the first time I heard this. [First added to this chart: 06/07/2018]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 9% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.2/100, a mean average of 86.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 15.2.

What I like about your chart is:
1 ~ your notes link your musical taste DNA to the albums and reveal an honesty in your choices and in you;
2 ~ we have TWO albums in common ~ and considering there are 2 generations between us and we grew up on opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean, I would have been disappointed if we had more in common;
3 ~ the 2 common albums we have are separated by 44 years of music: 1969 Abbey Road & 2013 AM. I love it that music can transcend the generations;
4 ~ I used your chart to explore music that has been unknown to me ~ I didn't find anything that excited me, but I enjoyed the deeper journey into 2000's & 2010's;
5 ~ half your chart has albums outside the BEA top 1000 ~ I respect that deeply.
What I didn't like:
1 ~ only 4 countries represented in the chart, and of that 96% is US & UK. Over time you will find that there are heaps of exceptional music out there worthy of including in a top 100 chart;
2 ~ only 1 Australian album! Nice to see one, but ..... I'd be happy to make some suggestions if you are interested.
Overall, I enjoyed spending time with your chart ~ thank you.
Love the notes. Very enjoyable read
great notes!
this chart is the most effectively descriptive one I've ever seen, very nice
Your notes are a really nice touch, with a great attention to detail!!
That said I still find the chart far too weighted to the modern era (which comes about from the rather intense focus on alternative/pop rock) alongside no picks from outside the anglophonic bubble.
Would be very interested to see where this chart goes if you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone a little ... I feel like you might be missing out!!
Album personality. LOL
I dig the Brand New and Basement picks, also the Seahaven album was a nice add. I enjoyed reading your descriptions a lot. Lot of diversity, but I respect your leaning toward demo/hardcore/alternative bands. Cool chart!
Cool to see American Prayer and Evol. Both unique albums
Love the text and enjoy scrolling through.
Fantastic descriptions and I love the inclusion of the personality indicators. Don't often see a chart so heavily weighted towards the 2010s, I personally agree that music has been amazing these last 7 years. Ignore the people calling you out in comments simply on subjective taste, great chart.
