Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.8/100, a mean average of 76.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.9.

Damn near perfect Aerosmith record. If "Home Tonight" were the equal of the previous records "You See Me Cryin." But that is nitpicking on a record with songs as good as "Rats In The Cellar" and "Sick as A Dog."

1976 was a magical year for classic rock with some history making albums coming out that year. This is one of the best from '76 and is my favorite Aerosmith album of all time. It left quite an impression on my 13 year old brain and every song is a rock gem.

Hard to pick between Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic and this as Aerosmith’s best 70’s album they were on a heck of a run. A lot of classic tracks like Back in the Saddle and Last Child and deep cuts here like Sick as a Dog and Lick and a Promise. (Edited)

I agree that Rocks is probably Aerosmiths most solid record.I also think that it's under-rated due to the fact that it doesn't have the "hit single"on it. I think the average listener tends to pass on it because they don't recognize any of the tracks.Still another good rocker never the less.

A storm of pure energy right from the start which completely engulfs you in the passion of the artist which floods out from the music. Joe Perry and Brad Whitford give absolutely phenomenal performances on guitar and make even the weaker songs sound pretty good. Their solos are top quality and their playing is just so infectious and enjoyable. Add on top of this some solid drum work and bass playing and you get a fantastic blend which invigorates the listener and gives us so much to enjoy. To make it even better you then get Steven Tyler's classic wail which gives the music additional punch and makes the choruses so fun to sing along to. He has one of the most distinctive voices in music and he makes this album really stand out. Despite this, a few songs do not hit as well as the better songs and it does take a while for us to be able to properly get into them. The lyrics are quite simplistic as well and feel unnecessarily crude in places making the lyrics a bit of a write off. Overall, an action packed 35 minutes that never fails at filling me with energy and showing me a good time.
