Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.9/100, a mean average of 73.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.3.

Intimate, not whiny. Emotional, not overacted. Confident, not self-indulgent. Original, not recycled. Telling, not yelling. That's why this album is so great and the ones that came after it aren't. (Edited)

Definitely more mature than his previous albums but still with a bit of his old sense of humor sprinkled in throughout. Unfortunately this was the last truly great album for him. (Edited)

The Eminem Show is Eminem's best album. It's more mature and tackles micro and macro themes throughout.

Government, Bush, and our right to free speech. His relationship with his mother. His place as a father. His affect on his listeners. He explores more vulnerable parts of himself in a serious way rather than deflecting it all with humor and goofy savage imagery as on the Marshall Mathers LP

Without Me was added at the very end to lighten the mood and give the album a surefire hit. Even the record companies knew this was a drastic change in tone.

Apart from the single Without Me, Square Dance (another excellent lighthearted track) is the only other silly tune.

This alone has made Eminem Show age much better than Marshall Mathers LP which used to be considered his best work.

I used to think that the Marshall Mathers LP was his best, but once this one clicked for me, I was sold. Every song is sheer, unadulterated brilliance. From the impassioned yet tongue-in-cheek "White America" to the catchy and vaguely cute "My Dad's Gone Crazy," Eminem proves himself capable of topping the MMLP, which just about everybody believed was untoppable.

Marshall's most cohesive project. Has some of his best rapping in terms of technicality. The way he ties together such diverse topics on this joint is unreal.
