Slim Shady LP, Marshal Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show are classics and some of the best albums of hip hop, but his later work is meh. There were defiantly highlights tracks, like When I'm Gone, Not Afraid, Headlights, and Be Careful What You Wish For. But there are a lot of mediocre tracks as well

I recently heard a guest appearance by this idiot on a really chill, laid back track... of course he was doing his usual violent thing over it and it was pathetic. does he even listen to the beat or does he just spit the same s*&^ the same way no matter what? he's so bad.

"take 2 kids from colombine, put em in a line, give em an ak47, a revolver, a 9, that oughtta solve this problem o mine."

"like a murder weapon I'ma conceal you, in a closet with mildew, sheets, pillows, and film you."

^ this from his highest rated album on here and his lyrics are never good. they're always irresponsible. heinous murder doesn't need to be taken lightly in s*&^ that'll be going through kids' ears hundreds of times. also on his best album he has a skit with dudes sucking each other off for like 3 minutes, it's repulsive and embarrassing to be listening to.

he only has one style when he's not doing these childish cartoon voices all the time. as a teen I thought he was funny. on the SSLP he is, actually. but funny isn't "best rapper ever," get the f*&^ out of here with that, he doesn't come close and if not for dre's 10 star production, eminem would be nothing.

He's immature, offensive for the sake of being offensive, unnecessarily violent in an attempt to be edgy, and most of his references and punchlines are horribly dated to the point of becoming unintelligible and frankly not funny. But there's no denying that with the way he strings rhymes together and flows for days on end, Eminem is one of the greatest rappers to ever live. He just makes it all seem so easy.

His 'golden era' hasn't necessarily been sustained, but he is indisputably one of the most influential rap artists of the last 2 decades.

If we're looking at his golden years, sure,he's really great, but his discography as a whole? Not so much. The records that follow his 3 great ones are pretty mediocre, with some good and some bad tracks. It all averages up to a good artist.

He held the best three-album run in the (short) history of rap music until Kendrick arrived. Granted, he hasn't done anything near as good again, but those three records are pure gold, and that's enough for me to consider him one of the best rappers of all time, hands down.
