Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.1/100, a mean average of 81.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.3.

Fantastic documentation of a young genius at work.
Criminally underrated on this site.
Massey Hall is near and dear to my heart. I fell in love with Neil Young's music through this album. His voice is not to be believed.
One of those concerts you wish you were there... Such an intimate, powerful live album
This album kinda ruined Harvest for me (in a good way). The live setting's just more Neil's speed than the (at times) orchestrated, well-rehearsed studio versions. Many of the songs are from Harvest, but I just prefer these stripped back renditions of them.
Superb live album. Much more polished than Live at the Cellar Door. A Man Needs a Maid/ Heart of Gold was my favorite track.
It's a brilliant venue - you can hear the heritage, the intimacy, and the 'hometown' crowd familiar with the artist. And it has great acoustics. A brilliant album that sells Neil Young as well as it sells Massey Hall.
This is a must have for Neil Young fans and for those on the fence about this great artist. All his early stuff is here and he delivers superb renditions of his classics solo/unaccompanied by any other musician. This was instantly a favorite of mine and his best release in years.
This album was released in 2007, not 1971.
Ditto...i bought the single to "Kick out the jams" in 9th grade, it is one of my all time favorites, I don't know how they got that sound, is it live? or studio manipulation? Of course 'live at leeds', the allman brothers, tim buckley, all classics...
