Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 86.0/100, a mean average of 85.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.1.

Like Heroes, it's good for a while, but then there's a string of boring instrumental tracks from Warszawa to the end that I don't get anything out of. Best tracks are Sound and Vision and Always Crashing In The Same Car. Incredibly overrated album, I am perplexed it is in the top 100 greatest albums of all time.

A stunning album. You don't come away from it with songs to hum. There's nothing as infectious as "Fashion", for example, but as a mainly instrumental album it is wonderfully inventive and original.

Shockingly good. Great songs on one side. Sound and Vision in particular is brilliant. The second half is more experimental and doesn't really nail it but its still very pleasant to listen to.

The influence this record had on music is absolutely massive with so many huge artists picking out this release as a huge inspiration. This isn't hard to believe as the music on here is packed full of quality. The peak of this for me is on the incredible Warszawa which is full of character and depth making it worth revisiting over and over again as it just gets better with every listen. Following closely behind this track is Sound And Vision which is just so infectious and it once again demonstrates Bowie's diversity. The main appeal of this record is just how creative Bowie and Eno were on this album with it just flowing out of every song. This leads to some experimental instrumentation that is so much fun to explore and get lost in. It also demonstrates how fantastic Bowie was as an instrumentalist as you are forced to acknowledge his quality on the tracks that are absent his voice and you truly start to appreciate how special he was. Overall, this is a significant and influential moment in the career of a true musical legend and it also has the quality to back it up.

I love this album. It's fantastically influential - when asked about favourite Bowie album, I would be really choosing between Hunky Dory and Low. The way it sounds, I'll probably stop writing this review, will go play it again

First time I listened to it I couldn't care a lot about it. Second period I tried listening to it, I enjoyed it much more and "got it". Now at this time in my life I feel so much more related to it. I think it finally genuinely clicks with me. It's definitively one of his best albums.
