Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by flamingyesdept (2020)

Hey y'all - glad you found the place alright. Feel free to look around and make yourself at home. Oh, the records? Freakin' awesome, aren't they? Real beauties. Don't touch!! I'm only kidding. Go ahead, give 'em a whirl! You may recognise some of them but others may be new to you. Give them all a listen why don't you? It's such a fabulous collection, quite a shame some of these albums aren't more widely celebrated. But hey, that's why I set up the place! So look around, listen, discover and enjoy. Hope you come back again soon x

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a mean average rating of 90.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 90.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.5.

Lots of inspired picks here, and oh my goodness your music is beautiful! I just want to put it on and gaze up at the stars. I can really hear the influences on your chart shining through.

I like this chart but don't know everything that shows - but will come back and look into those. I am surprised that it is predominantly 60's and 70's especially since you have rated so many albums and obviously well clued up. Can't believe your perseverance on listening to what looks like full back catalogue of Artists (Miley and One Direction etc) when you really don't like it? But also surprised of your ratings on so many big Artists that I enjoy like U2 & Muse - not doing it for you? Or hardly anything post 1970?

I only recently got into Flaming Lips and they are awesome - caught them live last year doing the Software Bulletin live including Wayne Coyne carried through the crowd on a large inflatable (sort of?) unicorn - lol - brilliant.
