"Enjoyably listenable pop. Tons of disco and soul influence on the writing and sound. Just a good modern take on that whole genre. Not innovative or avant garde, just really listenable."  Reply

"One of the most captivating and gorgeous ambient records out there. I remember being somewhat bored once Pop 4 came along. But now this is one of the best records of the 2000's. Probably Top 10 material in my book. Wonder how I would have felt of this record in the year 2000. Probably wouldn't ha..."  [+]  Reply

"This is probably the most maligned, bashed and dismissed album in Progressive Rock. All the well-known prog haters (Rolling Stone, Robert Christgau, etc) had a field day with this album, but if you really LISTEN to all the 4 pieces is such astounding musical experience. My favourites are 'Ritual'..."  [+]  Reply

"How is this not rated higher on BEA!? This band has a very unique brand of melodic, almost psychedelic sounding punk and I love it! Definitely more mature than their debut, which was a little more generic in terms of style for the time (although I like that one as well). This album hits hard too...."  [+]  Reply

""Over, Under, Sideways, Down" or "The Yardbirds" or "Roger the Engineer" was the Yardbirds' first real album released in 1966. They had released two albums in America in 1965 "For Your Love" and "Having a Rave Up", but they were merely compilations of singles, EP's , live-recordings or obscure re..."  [+]  Reply

"The more we progress into the 21st Century the more it becomes apparent that male dominated rock has nothing new to say. Indeed, it is only right that an all female band like Savages should symbolise punk rock RIGHT NOW, as theirs is the true voice of rage and discontent in a system that is STILL..."  [+]  Reply

"Too late to fall in love with this now, I'm afraid. Back in the day they would've been a great gateway band to The Slits and some cool math rock. Still, the songs sound fresh and convey genuine feeling. And despite the mathy arrangements the grooves are pretty agreeable - they clearly prefer the ..."  [+]  Reply

"(A near-perfect Indie Folk album that is so much more than just an indie folk album that it feels silly dropping that name/genre/tag on it. It’s still peak-Sufjan - somehow after over 20 years and it’s just a life-affirming, beautiful, escapist work of intense beauty) It’s a good feeling having a..."  [+]  Reply
