"Rock and roll fans who have yet to delve into the Drive By Truckers' entire catalog have no idea what they are missing. They rock incredibly hard, are alternately smart, funny and righteous, feature multiple talented songwriters, and put on a killer live show."  Reply

"Rich layers of instrumention, enjoyable if not all that impressive. Maybe at bit overproduced at times - everything but the kitchen sink, sort of thing. Bit too much keyboard. I liked the funky bass, guitars and horns. Some good moments when they let their players riff, e.g. end of "Revolution 19..."  [+]  Reply

"A relatively forgotten classic. A few weak tracks, but so much beautiful music on here, Elton's debut would easily make my top 100. Highlights: "Sixty Years On," "King," "Border Song," and "Pilot. And, of course, "Your Song" is one of the prettiest love songs ever. Rating based on original releas..."  [+]  Reply

"The previous album was so frustrating, mainly in that it certainly felt quite personal but so musically trite and thin that it couldn't really support the emotional weight of the lyrics. This in turn feels like a much fuller and lush fleshing-out of the previous album's sound, adding in some more..."  [+]  Reply

"Sounds like Zappa mouth raped Trent Reznor, shot a mutated semen load into his belly, and laughed a few weeks later as he watched Mr. NIN shit out this strangely awesome brood. Great album."  Reply

"This double album is a story of 2 (or maybe 3) parts. First, 12 tracks 1-8,20-22,24 are the ones you primarily want. And if I rated it on just those, it would be like 8.5/10. Then there's the Sha Na Na songs which are mostly adequate covers of classic songs. Then there's all the "background" trac..."  [+]  Reply

"Hardest rocking Hip album, oozing the most attitude. Not as many classics as other early Hip work, but the album as a whole shows them really flexing their muscle. A vital Hip album."  Reply
