Billy Corgan is an amazing writer- "Stand Inside Your Love"

What we all thought was the fifth and final chapter in the Smashing Pumpkins canon. About on par with "Adore" from two years earlier, but not at the level of their mid 90's peak. They do rock on this one, with "Everlasting Gaze" and "Heavy Metal Machine." Some very good moments, just a bit long at 15 tracks and over 70 minutes.

I rate this album slightly better than Mellon Collie and my favourite Pumpkins album. Some great tracks on it and yes it is very underrated.

Way too ambitious and ultimately fails . The Everlasting Gaze kicks off the album terrifically but from then on nothing really shines. I saw The Pumpkins live in support of this album & even then the tracks felt flat. I remember Billy announcing at one point during the concert: “ Thanks For Supporting What We Are Trying To Do With This Album “ . No Billy , I just don’t get it . Completely disappointing . Now where’s my copy of Siamese Dream? (Edited)

A good album regardless of what was going on within the band. From what I've read the band split up during the recording of the album or they at least knew it was the end. Maybe that's why it sounds like a Corgan solo album in parts.
