Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. "X" can't help but be a slight disappointment after the excellent "Body Language". This record as a whole feels a bit jumbled and confused. Sure, there are good tracks on here ("In My Arms" is a shining moment) but as a whole package, I don't think it quite works.

Almost as consistent as Fever, and OH MY GOD I love “All I See” so much, it’s the most sensual song ever made.
Kylie Minogue offers a collection of well-produced and catchy dance-pop tracks on "X", her eleventh studio album. Nothing here matches the diversity and lyricism displayed during her 90s indie phase or the pop peaks of the hugely underrated "Body Language", but it's nonetheless a good album that dance-pop fans will be pleased with, complete with a couple of great singles, even if it is frontloaded and rudimentary.
Wow was the song I listened to most when I first started with Kylie. I had this album and the Ultimate Collection. Wonderful!
