Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.1/100, a mean average of 76.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.6.

My favourite Kylie album, probably due to being a change in style (reportedly in an effort to stay "relevant" in Britpop/indie era UK). I believe it got panned by critics and long established Kylie fans. Songs 2 - 5 are more indie than dancefloor but the rest of the album is more in true Kylie style.
A welcome surprise. With a smorgasbord of genres, Kylie created her greatest artistic statement at the cost of polarising her fans and mainstream audiences. This record is a big success in my eyes, and it'd be great if she ever returned to these kind of underground art pop sensibilities.
Funny how a guitar and a heavy backbeat can make people take you so much more serious.
Kylie Minogue's 1997 album "Impossible Princess" is a bizarre and unexpected pop record, but it proves to be her towering masterpiece. Of course, we had a taste of "Indie Kylie" on her '94 record "Kylie Minogue", but "Impossible Princess" only solidified her diverse taste, impressive lyricism and the ability to alienate her fanbase and mainstream audiences in the name of great art.
Like all of the best pop stars, Kylie proves she can confidently handle a huge variety of genres, including: trip-hop, rock, trance, jazz and drum & bass, making this record a complete delight. "Impossible Princess" is catchy and innovative (it even has flavours of Celtic & Middle Eastern music), and as such, this album remains one of the best and most underrated pop albums of the 90s.
This might be her best record. A blend of pop, rock and other genres when they hit they will make you go what. Wasn't expecting the jazz part in Through The Years

One of the biggest "grower" albums I've ever heard. You discover one of the million things she throws up in the air each and every time you listen to it. Honest to God an impressive listen.
