Janet continues down the road of sexed up vixen with limited success. Her frail, wispy vocals can't handle a lot of weight. I miss the days of "Rhythm Nation" and when she was in "Control". What really detracts from this album is the sparse production and lack of musical beds provided by Jermaine Dupree. It's basically just anonymous rhythm tracks, dressed up occasionally with an interjection of synths.

This album has grown on me over the years it had a rating of 70 when I first rated it but since I rearranged the playing order and left out the "interlude" tracks its now a favourite album of mine, better than Damita Jo & 20YO.
It's...a C minus. It's pop, but is it groundbreaking? Is it good? Not every Janet album has to be perfect/groundbreaking, but it cannot sound bland. This album sadly isn't good, especially for Janet.
