Kelly doesn't get enough credit for really earning her pop star status. She actually had to compete and not rely on luck among a sea of other capable performers (in which the best looking one always wins out). This is her at her best-produced. A lot of covers and repurposed songs, but she makes them her own. Even after what happened with My December she hit a home run with this one.

She's very consistent as far as pop artists go. She took a step back on the songwriting here because of how her last album went. Kind of sad, I think she is much better than most pop artists when she is working with the right person. Not too much of her and not too much of them. This album definitely has more of a pop feel, although it does still have some of the rock influenced style in some songs. Has some messy production throughout. Most of the songs are good, but only a few really connect emotionally.

Give her credit - she's a strong pop singer who is relying on her voice, not blatant sexuality to sell records. I'd like to see more of Kelly Clarkson and less of Miley Cyrus... but she's still pretty simple pop.
