A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. I usually rate every chart a 100 as long as it's genuine. Music is very subjective and therefore its difficult and pretentious to star rate somebody's musical tastes. This chart is a head-scratcher though, and therefore I'm going to refrain from giving any rating at all. Lots of really great and respectable albums here but I mean how could somebody who has listened to 100+ different albums truly believe artists like Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, N'Sync, etc have some of the greatest albums of all time? I don't know I mean those artists clearly put very minimal & generic efforts into their music and have done nothing interesting enough to stand out or even deserve to be remembered in the music world. I know I just said music is very subjective but I mean even as far as pop music goes there are some just very skeletal artists featured in here too often. But hey, if this is the music that makes you happy then by all means.

Many people have their noses too far up their own you-know-where to enjoy pop like you do. That includes me, though I can hopefully say I'm trying. And you're probably a lot happier than the rest of us nerds. I don't think I've ever been happier than listening and dancing to Swift's "Shake It Off" with someone else that enjoys it. You're doing it right my friend.

Its surprising to see people like Lana Del Ray, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson alongside older great albums by Carole King, Love, Blondie, Paul Simon, Beatles, Mamas n Papas. Just like me, its all over the map. But, that's what makes it good. I like it.
