Don't Go Throwing Roses in My Grave is the solo debut from Menzingers semi-frontman Gregor Barnett. Barnett is central to The Menzingers, a punk rock band that owes it's melody and heartache more to The Beach Boys, The Replacements and Big Star instead of Bad Religion and Descendents.
Barnett gets a chance to break from the formula of his band, delving into slower tempo songs that tell more distinct character stories than the typical heartache and nostalgia in The Menzingers. Talking to Your Tombstone is especially heartbreaking. Driving Through the Night and Anthem for the One I Love is the respective anthem and ballad that Barnett frequently brings to his band. Guest in Your House is also an excellent bittersweet closer.
Highly recommend.
