Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.0/100, a mean average of 67.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.9.

Actually liked this more over time. U2 having fun and being dickie. Sound great on Vinyl and not as terrible as some make out
An experimental album, it's mostly electronic and sounds nothing like the rest of their work. Only If God Will Send His Angels really sounds like a typical U2 song. I can't say it's a great album, but it's certainly not terrible. Worth a try, but not surprised they reverted to type for their next two albums (which I consider both to be excellent albums). My favourite track is Do You Feel Loved.

Bono and friends come out with one of their most experimental and, I think, underrated releases. Would have been very interesting to hear how it would have sound if it wasn't rushed at the end (according to the band)
For this to be rated as the 11th best U2 album seems ridiculous to me. It should be in the top five.
this album with a good name and a good cover would be considered among the 20 best albums ever
A derrapada eletrônica do U2 tem sua força.
U2 attempt to mix stadium rock with techno and largely succeed. There are some great tracks here, Gone, Staring at the Sun, Last Night on Earth, Wake up Dead Man, Please. In fact more stand out tracks than some of their 'better' albums.
Well they tried...
arguably the band's best album and absolutely they're most underrated and misunderstood.
the rhythm section is as strong as anything u2 has done. adam clayton and larry mullin jr are playing at another level that we don't see much from u2.
by this point in his career, bono has backed down from shouting his way through songs, and he delivers his coldest, most down-to-earth lyrical performance here. there's a glimmer of hope in his words as always, but he's so chalk full of anger. it's pretty chilling at times. you won't hear any "all you need is love" tracks on this album. instead, you get "wake up dead man" and "get up off your knees".
and you've got to give the edge a lot of credit for backing off of his trademark shimmery delayed riffs in favor of something altogether different.
there's a lot of merit to the position that the backlash from critics and fans alike is what watered down the u2 we have left in the years that follow. this was the band's last great risk, and it's a beautiful risk.
