Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.2/100, a mean average of 77.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.2.

I don't like black metal, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. Loved the fast paced music and scifi concept/lyrics, which made this a very enjoyable album.
The moment I heard the opening riffage on the title track, I knew I was in for one hell of a high-octane, head-banging marathon.
The shredding throughout this album is incredible. Not just the quality of the riffs, but the technical ability demonstrated via a couple of mind-melting guitar solos, particularly on the track Hunger for Violence, is jaw-dropping.
The drumming is extremely tight and never relies on the extreme metal cliché of double bass pedals and blast beats, although a few moderated bursts of rapid-fire bass pedals are present on the track Deoxyribonucleic Acid.
I also have to give credit to Dave DiSanto for his vocal delivery on the album. While his vocal style is likely polarising, his consistent ferocity and stellar shrieking, best showcased on the track Asteroid, has me sitting comfortably on the positive side of the divide.
This album also brings some quite progressive ideas and song structures to the table, as shown via the 10+ minute epics Forest of Legend, Dark Nebula and Accelerating Universe. Indeed, Vektor describe themselves as "space-metal" and the subject matter in the lyrics definitely lives up to such a label.
This is, by quite some distance, the best metal album I've ever heard. No album makes me headbang, try to sing or try to play air guitar along to it as much as this hidden gem of an album.
87/100.
