Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.9/100, a mean average of 80.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.4.

Going in search of that Spoon album that would finally turn me onto the band I landed here on their highest ranked release and came up disappointed. Spoon remind me a lot of the band Elbow in terms of being critically acclaimed and having a large dedicated fan base with the music being neat and competent but ultimately just okay with nothing particularly terrible nor knock your socks off amazing either. In fact I enjoyed their 2022 latest album significantly more than this one
This is a good album, that really shines in places. Tracks like Don't You Evah and The Underdog are some of the groups best ever tracks. The variation of instrumentation is also very beneficial to the listener as it keeps the album fresh. However, it just feels like it is missing an edge to the music. It feels plain and empty in places and like the songs could be flushed out a bit more. There are quite a few average tracks as well which is worrying as it is only 36 minutes long. Overall, an album I enjoyed but I don't think it is that good but I may change my opinion after a few more listens.
Didn't think it was anything too special but it still had it's fair share of good songs but mostly just wasn't into much of it. It's was an easy listen though clocking in at 36 quick minutes. Absolutely loved "Don't You Evah" totally makes the album worth a listen. 7/10
The magnum opus from an indie group that has always defied convention. Brilliant.
A masterpiece. This album will never die.
Goddamn perfection.
This album is criminally underrated.

Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, rather than taking any major steps in a new direction, is a kind of ”taking stock” record that collates and refines everything Spoon had done incredibly well on their prior records. This project results, then, in an incredible inventory of sounds: a grand arsenal of hand claps, Motown-lifted tambourine bursts, music-hall piano lines, and bass levels that hover in the red. Let's not call it a formula, though; let's just acknowledge it for what it is: a great band doing all the things it does best, particularly on the lead single "The Underdog," one of their bounciest, brassiest songs to date.
Spoon's bests album. Tight, Concise, Fun.
Don't You Evah is the best Spoon song
Ghost of You Lingers has great haunting effects with stabbing piano
Don't Make Me a Target has a deceptively sloppy guitar throughout with great transitions.
The album closes on a fantastic note with the last 2 songs.
Excellent 40 minute gem
