Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Yeah this is the first truly fantastic release of the year. It's cool how the old school screamo scene is still alive and kicking. Maybe the best it's been since the golden age of the 90s/early 00s. I'm biased towards the heavier, metal and hardcore punk influenced versions of the genre (as opposed to the emo and melodic sides) and Obsidian Wreath fits perfectly into that mold. Cool atmospheric parts, insane hardcore sections, no filler material. The only drawbacks are the orchestrations in the background of almost every song, they really overdid that.

The new year is off to a good start, because holy hell this thing is good. They go harder here on songs like Clawing, Still & Fulfilled than they ever have, and I am here for it. Atmosphere is palpable, and the performances are stellar. Gives me Converge vibes here and there, just because the whole thing feels so emotional.
