Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.0/100, a mean average of 65.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.1.

The start of the comeback, although there's nothing on here to compare with the quality of their next few records. Still, it is the album that set them on their way back to the big league, apart from that though, it's forgettable and ordinary.
There is nothing here that stands out. Not their best
This is Aerosmith's real comeback album after years of doing drugs instead of music (although most people didn't notice until Permanent Vacation). Good solid hard rock all the way through and The Hop is jolly good fun.
Aerosmith's attempt at a comeback. They stripped it down, trying to find their roots, and seem more cohesive, loose, and sounding like a band again. But the songwriting just isn't there. There are no standout riffs or hooks, the lyrics are silly, and there's no standout musicianship. This is the wobbly first steps of a band trying to rebuild itself.
