Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 64.2/100, a mean average of 60.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.3.

Bland and flat, not in a good way. Pains me to give an Eno album such a low rating; he made my favorite album of all time. With musicians, if they have long careers, some of the best have plenty of low points and head-scratchers sprinkled through their body of work. Inspiration comes and goes, and you don't stop working when it's gone, you work to try to get it back, and you convince yourself that it's still here. Among the worst things about this album is the way he talked about it at the time, saying that he was inventing a new type of music, citing Mahavishnu Orchestra as inspiration and going about "jazz." Eno's body of work is uneven in quality, I think, but that's not really a very serious criticism. Judging by his best, and not shades-of-beige filler like this whole album, he's actually fully worthy of his reputation.

Weird album cover haha. Really like the music though. It's hard to dislike anything he puts out and it's also hard to rank his catalogue. Love his stuff with vocals, his interesting instrumental stuff like this and his ambient stuff.
