Rat Farm is the fourteenth studio album by Meat Puppets. It is the highlight of their career revival period that that started in the late 2000s. Meat Puppets are known for taking folk songs and injecting them with a psychedelic guitars and studio sounds. Rat Farm trims the fat, bringing the most direct and organic set of songs the band has released since their breakthrough record Too High to Die. It reveals that the psychedelic nature of the Meat Puppets lies in the lyrics, singing and naked guitar riffs, rather than extended jams or any studio effects. The Meat Puppets will surely continue to experiment with jams and effects, but if they stick to melody and strong songs they will continue to make great records.
