Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.7/100, a mean average of 70.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 21.3.

i love this album
More personal and layered than I expected.
One of today's albums that u listen to from the beginning to the end; no bad tracks, and they all fit together, not just randomly combined songs and made into an album. Even though it has some sexual songs, but that's not a problem at all, indeed, they're really sexy. I like the idea of merging some electronic music elements into pop and R&B. Dunno why ppl on this site just dump every pop album for no reason, and even without listening to it. I mean u don't have to like Beyonce or mainstream music, but at least be open-minded and objective about ur rating.
Beyoncé se afasta do R&b radiofônico (e muitas vezes xarope) e se aproxima da borda desse gênero. Os melhores do mundo são chamados para produzir sua maior surpresa!
Absolutely revolutionary. Great album.
I'm generally oblivious to most of what's happened in pop music over the past decade, or more. Like most people nowadays, I hardly ever listen to the radio, and I don't watch television (with the exception of the return of Twin Peaks, which was awesome). That said, it's really hard to ignore Beyoncé. There's that voice, of course. But more than that, she is a genuine artist, someone who uses the platform of her popularity and celebrity to make music that matters, that has purpose, that has true value and power. I respect her a lot as an artist. It's interesting, then, that the song that most interests me on this album is one of its least overtly political: the single "Drunk in Love," which is one of the most downright sexy things I've ever heard.
I wish I had been a Bey fan when this album dropped. I can't believe more people haven't followed suit with the visual album. It really highlights every track and obscures the singles. Every song is important, which can't be said for every pop/r&b album
Best of the genre.
