Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.1/100, a mean average of 71.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.0.

DMB timeline goes something like this.

Popularity wanes after poppy Everyday

Classic Busted Stuff is made but people aren't listening

DMB try main stream pop Stand Up to gain fans but has opposite effect being easily their worst album and losing some of their most die hard and loyal fans along the way

Saxophonist Moore dies in an ATV accident and DMB is reenergized by the loss and release GrooGrux King.

This is a very solid album from start to finish. Comparisons to humans being monkey's from Dave does get tiresome

Alligator Pie is unique and Time Bomb is a hidden gem as well. It starts great from songs 1-5 and meanders into average a little after that.

This is surprisingly good but overtime DMB hasn't evolved enough positively to gain fans. Their attempts at reinvention have failed. So here they release what they do best. It is good but you have heard this sound and these these lyrical topics before.

Busted Stuff was great and twins Under Table and Crash were very very good. This comes in a bit behind those.

A welcome return to form after Stand Up but not unique enough to bring them back into high popularity. People who loved them in the 90's will like this and music fans who came after will probably only like it in party situations

Another great album from this band from start to finish. My 2nd favorite next to Crash. Not a bad song on the album and I'm surprised how little people have rated this.

It's a little better than Stand Up but it's not the great album or the return to form it's sometimes made out to be. The first listen was amazing but it kind of fell apart on the next few. There's still some good songs, don't get me wrong, but not enough.
