Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 62.0/100, a mean average of 60.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.4.

After John Entwistle's death it looked like the end for The Who, especially as a recording unit. In fact the band hadn't made an album since 1982's, it's hard, so it was with some surprise in 2006 when a new record, endless wire, was released. Down to just two official members, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey reconvened with Zak Starkey on drums for an LP split into two parts. The first was nine standalone tracks, and the second part, yes, you've guessed it, a rock opera, albeit a mini one. Of the first part, there's nothing spectacular here, but it's just about passable. Fragments, kicks off the album which initially starts sounding like the intro to Baba O'Reilly. A man in a purple dress, is an acoustic anti-evangelical number, it's ok. For some reason on, in the ether, Townshend tries to sing like Tom Waits, very odd. The best of the first part is probably, it's not enough, which itself is just a pale imitation of a 'who's next' era track. The mini opera is alright, but it's nothing compared to, Tommy, or even, a quick one, while he's away. Nothing on here would be good enough to be included on any Who album up to, by numbers. Why the duo felt they had to make this record is a mystery, it's possibly their worst album.
