Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 82.2/100, a mean average of 80.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.4.

I can't believe someone (@ShaneSpear) called Depeche Mode a "one-album wonder"!!!
Hallo? Which ONE album would that be? Some Great Reward? (US platinum)? Music for the masses (US platinum)? Violator? (US 3xPlatinum)? Songs of faith and devotion (US platinum)?
I've got news for you: Depeche Mode have sold in excess of 100 million records worldwide (which is a heck of a good deal for any "one-album wonder")!

Without fear of being wrong, I dare say that Depeche Mode is one of the 10 most influential bands in history, and an underrated band.

I love Depeche Mode for their ingenuity and gusto for digging into painful topics, never one to turn away from difficulty. Creating elaborate melodies that range from powerful to fragile and beautiful, they've woven masterpieces that reflect over humanity and history. Nothing but admiration and love from me
Fathers of dark pop, and best electronic band of the '80s. Mostly influenced by Kraftwerk but, on the other hand, DM influenced the whole german electronic scene. Synthpop bands as Diorama, Seabound, De/Vision, Beborn Beton, Covenant, Deine Lakaien, Wolfsheim, Rotersand etc, they wouldn't even exist if there wasn't DM. Their greatest works were between '86 and '93, and their greatest mistake...they let Alan Wilder go, in '94.
A highly influential electronic act, I love how they began to take a darker atmosphere and darker lyrics in their music. That made them more interesting. Black Celebrations, Music For The Masses, Violater, and Songs of Faith and Devotion is their creative peak
