At the time my interest in albums was slowly coming to the surface, this was the first album I bought that wasn't a Beatles album. The music might not be strong enough to dismantle an atomic bomb, but it holds a lot of nostalgic value for me. Yes, more nostalgia. The album also has that very memorable chorus that some people might love and others might hate, the unforgettable words of "Vertigo": "Hello, Hello... Hola! I'm at a place called vertigo...". Yes, that's Spanish they included there!

Hollow, but beautiful. James Blunt's "whiny" voice really does something emotionally powerful on this album full of tears, rain and perfect pop songs. The first album I fell in love with, before The Beatles and everything!

Hot fuss when it's hottest and singles-heaviest. The Killers indeed killed it and came on top with this stellar alternative glam rock debut. Great songs are also to be found further than track 5!

Raw and energetic, just like the debut, but with many new flavours and in my opinion a huge improvement. Among many things, a song like "Day Old Blues" quite hilariously introduces yodeling! It also has a song about a girl who had problems with drinking milk!?

Narrow in scope and variation perhaps, but who cares when it's this effective? That minimalistic drawing of a bridge goes hand in hand with the also minimalistic, pure and above all soothing soundscapes so well!

With lyrics such as "Now that I'm older, my heart's colder" and the album simply called "Funeral", you'll probably ask yourself if this really is Arcade Fire's debut and maybe question how joyful an album it's gonna be. It is in fact the debut and it's more uplifting than what you probably had expected. Some of the biggest anthems of the 21st century drenched in beautiful orchestration are on this very album!

Hopes and fears, as the title suggests, blends the sweet with the sour. Basically, it's Coldplay with even less guitar, and a great album at that!

When it comes to songwriting, Saybia don't bend the rules much. Nothing wrong with that, these songs are are all solid, a few stand out and one of them, the 17 minutes long untitled bonus track, is worth dying for. Yes, it's that epic! Overall some good melancholic Danish pop rock here.
