"I was expecting a heavier sound than this but in actual fact it is quite peaceful and relaxing in places. This is all down to the composition and the instrumentation. The album is beautifully crafted and feels like one complete cohesive package that effortlessly flows while it takes you on a bril..."  [+]  Reply

"This is actually quite an underrated album. It's certainly Faith no more's most diverse and eclectic album. It features all kinds of sounds from metal to country, from funk to ballads, all delivered in that unique FNM way. A very good album, you may not realise how good it actually is."  Reply

"The only album I've heard by the band thus far. Atlantic is fantastic, but the rest is just a tad too poppy for me. Still good, though. EDIT: I'm getting into this album alot more now; the songs are well constructed and the keyboards and electronics add a nice atmosphere to it. It's definitely in..."  [+]  Reply

"Ryan Adams may be a pretentious prick, but the man can write a song, no question about it. When he's not putting out multiple albums per year, and focuses, albums like this can happen. This sounded great right when it came out, I ranked this #5 in my 2002 rankings originally, and it only sounds b..."  [+]  Reply

"This is an escapist album filled with magic and intrigue from start to finish. If you want to be take to a surrealistic dark forest with witches and amoebas this is a good place to start. It can take a while to get used to, but with an open mind could easily become your favourite. "May the long t..."  [+]  Reply

"Patrick Stickles merges reality with fantasy in this album. The Civil War serves as a backdrop for something larger. The Monitor is constantly referencing "the enemy" as the Confederates of the Civil War, as well as the conformists of modern society. Listen to this album hard. Move all distractio..."  [+]  Reply

"Whatever else you say about this album...it's definitely unique. The lyrical content has a certain sense of of humor and the music is certainly different from most of the heavy arena rock bands of the day. It's a bit corny at times, but it definitely gets points for originality."  Reply

"One of the few albums where I like the second half more than the first. Of course, "Lucretia my Reflection" and "This Corrosion," are the hits, but from "Flood II" onward it's all frosty darkwave to match the album art. Recommended for a moonlit winter stroll."  Reply

"It's always funny looking back. I was initially disappointed by Yellow House. I loved the hazy, recorded under sea sound of Grizzly Bear's debut Horn of Plenty. Lo-fi being my drug of choice and all. But the splendor of Yellow House quickly won me over and there's no question it may be the epitom..."  [+]  Reply
