Made in a historical process, as a scream of liberty when Brazil faced its harder military dictatorship. The censure and political pursuit did Chico Buarque living in exile in Italy. Construção has part of this exile life, some of personal narrative and foremost, a hard critical to military rule. "Deus Lhe Pague" and "Cordão" show us this critical.
The songs are very well written, Chico mix his poems and verses with critical feelings in wonderful harmony. The result is this masterpiece! Construção is one of the most important (and best) Brazilian album ever and it could be one of the best in the world if most of people has already listend to it.
The song "Construção" is alone a masterpiece. A critial song about work and capital (Marx would love it) and how a worker died doing your job in an alienated way. The lyric is a play of word composed in verses, which always end in a proparoxytone word.
Favorite Songs: Construção; Cotidiano; Deus Lhe Pague; [First added to this chart: 09/30/2015]

One of the most important Brazilian's albums ever. Novos Baianos mixed a lot of instruments from Brazilian's culture. They show us a different vision of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) and rock from 70's. They used to live a kind of anarchy life, always together. I think this is one of the reasons of their symmetry. This album is full of history, like "Brasil Pandeiro" where the Americans know the Brazilian Tambourine, our spice and more about the culture. Acabou Chorare makes me feel very happy to be Brazilian and know this amazing language, that is so beautiful when singed by rhythmic mode.

A beautiful and hopeful ray of light shining above the polluted Brazilizan society. This album is a source of a lot of great songs that will be released on Brazil by so many different artists. Clube da Esquina is a meeting between two great artists and they together, calmly, with powerful vocal chords and well constructed melodys brought us one masterpiece. It makes me reflect about the life and the union among the people and the breeds here in Brazil.

"Rebeldes sem causa", probably you would see majority of Brazilians saying this about Vicious and his group, but for me Sex Pistols had one reason to live and it was converted on Never Mind The Bollock's songs. Simple riffs with a vocal 'nonstandard', the band show me that you don't need to be a Master to express yourself through music. The album is extremely provocative in the historical context that it was released.
This album don't influenced me so much (that's why it isn't higher ranked), but it has been so important to other bands that I like, specially the punk rock ones.
