Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

18 albums in common is pretty dang high considering mine is only 50 long, and you have several more I would add if I could do 100. Really nice chart. You have a lot of Nine Inch Nails which I don't care for, but I won't mark you down, everyone has some differences in opinion from me.

Still really like this.
I recommend checking out Dave Van Ronk if you haven't. He's old school. But his earthy and passionate delivery and folk style seems like an earlier form of what The Tallest Man In Earth brings to the table.
This chart gets better over time! What do you make of the most recent Kanye album?

We have a lot of stuff in common, but I can't stand Kings of Leon and I'm not big on Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor either. And like others have said, there's not a ton of diversity. However, for the most part I like this chart, so good job.

Love that The Wild Hunt is top ten! All in all I like this chart. My first musical idol was Trent Reznor.... Ill have to revisit soon. I think it's funny that the one Kanye album on here is 808s.
