Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

with 28 similar picks of course I'm gonna like this chart. I see some comments that it is full of "classics" and sticking to the script - but I know most of these albums and if they are great albums then why shouldn't they be included?
Don’t know Dead Kennedy’s or Talk Talk (Colour of Spring) or Modern Lovers album. Some less familiar albums include Pretty Hate Machine or This Nations Saving Grace or Dirty or Rid Of Me or Trompe Le Monde or Gish.
So I enjoy it but would enjoy it more with some comments about why these albums?

22 out of 100 the same as mine. If I was a little critical I'd say it leans to heavily on American artists and it surprises me that you are not American as a result. Replacing a dozen or so of the obvious American choices with more British, Irish and Canadian stuff would make it even better.

Nice work but looks like you have spent a lot of time looking through the "official" charts. Sonic Youth is really the only refreshing high placed entry. Great list just the same.
