Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I absolutely LOVE 2000s underground hip hop scene. There's a lot more that I feel you havent heard yet either but MF DOOM, Aesop Rock and Deltron 3030 are a great start.
Here's some suggestions of other artists that had some critically acclaimed records at that time:

I don't see anything wrong with having a metal-heavy chart if that's the music you loved from the decade. Nice to see some excellent selections from other genres here too, and nice to see some undeniably great entries such as Arcade Fire's Funeral honored here. Great job!

Thanks man! I should probably cut some metal picks. I have 23 of them which is really too much, but I’m not sure which ones to drop...
