I'll probably give this a proper writeup eventually, but for now I'll leave it with the fact that the line "You swore that you would love me and I swore I’d love you too and you’ll barely even notice it when I disappear." made me stop on my walk home the first time it kinda clicked and sit down and cry on a public bench. The intimacy of this whole album is something special.

My god this came out of nowhere for me. I remember liking some guy on SBTRKT's album from a few years back, had no idea this was him, just saw it getting high marks and listened out of curiosity. It's got the heartfelt sincerity of Frank Ocean, the vocal style and of James Blake with an increased vulnerability and intimacy, and a genuinely unique sounding instrumentation. Really, really loving this a lot.

Wow where'd these folks come from? They've got all the guitar work I always praise Hippo Campus and the like for with more rich instrumentation and vocals that are reminding me more of Field Music than, say, Two Door Cinema Club. There's something so deliciously 80s about parts of this, and these weird tonal moments, more in terms of feeling and mood than actual sound that just remind me of XTC in a way I'm loving, especially on "Voice". Absolutely the most fun album I've heard without question this year, and one I see myself revisiting a chunk. It's a little short for my usual liking, but honestly with a lot of the songs here sometimes trending a bit on the samey side, I think that's working to its advantage. Right now, this is my AOTY.
