The wonderful year of British Pop music or POP yes even POP! as some used to say around that time. This was a result of the manifold developments in what one might call Post Punk and it's growing indifference with any ideas of Rock music (give or take some US Bands like Gun Club, but even they were understood as Pop way back then). It's the year of glamour, British working class kids in style and grace, the last moment a better life through music seemed to be in reach for everyone. - Oh, did I forgot to mention, it was the first year of Bat Cave Gothic too, as dark as burlesque. And yes some wonderful post New Wave records appeared as well, interestingly they showed a tendency towards Pop as well.
